He uses to follow me around, on days when the sun is shining, and at nights when the moon is bright. Let me introduce you to a very good friend of mine, Mr. Darko Monochromic Grayscalicious Me.

If you have acrophobia, don’t try to look at the picture and look at the picture!

If you’re a Foochow, or if you understand Foochow – a Chinese dialect, then this road sign will mean something to you. If you’re not, or if you don’t know the dialect, then that’s just another road sign in Melbourne.
Nevertheless, this road sure has a lot of asses wandering around. You know what I mean?

Is this guy creative or what? He’d actually came up with an idea of selling ads space on the Internet by the pixel. Starting with $400 on the first day of sales, and after a week of constant sales of ads space, the media kicks in. And then what? Then, the money just rain on him!! The man behind this ingenius way of revenue generation is, Alex Tew.
First of all, I felt like I was tickled when I read his name. It’s like,
Ah Beng: “Eh, you know who did that Million Dollar Homepage?”
Ah Seng: “Alex.”
Ah Beng: “Tew! It’s him ah? Confirm boh? On ah?”
Ah Seng: “On lah on lah.” (Malaysian/Singaporean way of saying ‘Confirm’. Often used in confirming (illegal) football bets)
Note: ‘Tew’ sounded like the word f*ck in Cantonese. Sorry about that Alex Tew, but no hard feelings okay?
Alright, back to the topic,
I can’t believe it, in just 3 weeks I’ve made enough money to pay for all 3 years of University! This is unreal! Someone pinch me! – Alex Tew
I wish I could be the one who asks for that pinch. Anyway, the website had even been featured on Sky News and Five News, both of them are major TV channels in the UK. The media has helped him a lot nonetheless. Thanks to the mass media, the site’s advertisements had actually performed better, actually, much better than other advertisement programs out there. Check out his case study to find out how companies’ web traffic increased by 100-fold after advertising on his site.
Since then, lots of copycats copied his concept and racked in a profitable shares of the market! Site like this one at http://www.millionquarterwebpage.com offers advertisements at only $0.25, 75 cents cheaper than the original site. May I suggest TV Smith of doing a Malaysian version of the site, selling each pixel at dua sen (two cents) per pixel. Not a bad idea huh?

Well, there’s another one at http://www.milliondollarhelppage.com does the same, but is doing it for charity though.
Final say, I admire his creativity and his courage to execute his plan. Who would’ve thought that this kinda idea would eventually become a hit on the Internet?

My first impression on Project Petaling Street: It’s a well planned, well executed idea of a portal for Malaysian blogging community. It’s growth has been phenomenal since its inception back in June 2003. It is THE premier blog portal in Malaysia.
On the mission statement of PPS, as stated on PPS Wiki:
Why was PPS created?
The PPS seeks to fulfill the following objectives:
1. Create and sustain an interest and awareness in blogging among Malaysians of all ages and races. If you’re old enough, you’re young enough. Seriously: blogging isn’t difficult, if you are so inclined.
2. Create and sustain a community of Malaysian bloggers – while the PPS community is currently very small (i.e. limited to the founding core group members), this won’t be the case for very long. Plans are underway to allow the PPS to accept public submissions. Other community tools such as a “Malaysian blogosphere” search engine is also being developed.
3. Aggregate and congregate content from across the Malaysian blogosphere
The core missions certainly are inspiring. Very considerate of them indeed giving out a helping hand to the Malaysian blogging community.
However, all of the good impressions I had on PPS are now shattered when I found out this – PPS is sponsored by the XXX adult entertainment industry? Now when I say sponsored, it means they’ve generating revenues from the advertisements of that particular industry. They also captioned the adverts under “Sponsors”.

Today, PPS has shown zero integrity by allowing XXX-rated ads on the portal. Nonetheless, this portal is watched, read, viewed, seen, clicked, by not only Malaysians, you know. This is the Internet for Christ-sake and talk about Malaysia’s PREMIER blog-tal showing adult ads, now that’s something to ponder about. Has PPS lost its way there? The recent attack on its service by malicious hackers cannot be taken as an excuse for that.
PPS, if you realize, these materials are for 18-and-over only. Considering kids as young as 12 could start writing a blog, what are the chances of them stumbling upon and clicking those ads? Those links are there for a purpose, I understand.
Coz at the end of the day, PPS gets the cheques, young minds get corrupted. I think the admins should do something about it, and quick. By the way, I’ve never seen a smoking pussy before. Thanks for the info., PPS Sponsors.

Saw this pharmacy in London with a name that is hilarious to me, as a Chinese Foochow. While not trying to be disrespectful of them, the term “Apek” is used by us to refer to an old man, or a male senior citizen. In our community, it’s considered unpolite to call an old man, “Apek”.
From the words on its glass windows, I guess it’s a Russian pharmacy. Anyone knows what Apek means in Russian?
