This is a DIY dog cage for the 2 German Sheppies in the house. It took full 3 days for material sourcing, measuring and cutting, welding, roofing and flooring, and finally, painting.
The completed dog cage
The completed dog cage, placed just beside the water reservoir from the local fire rescue department. Mandatory for building projects like this.

The roof

Aftermath of Typhoon Tailing

17

May

This is what happened to the building after the Tuesday’s typhoon tailing. I was totally unprepared for this.

Broken Signboard
Broken signboard. The remaining Chinese character, meaning “Car”. That’s my industry.

Cost of the signboard: RM2000+.

And then there was the broken telephone line. It was broken because of a fallen scaffolding. Careless painter forgotten to tie it to the support beam.
Telekom Malaysia van
I called the 100 support line and they promised to assign a technician to look at the situation within 24 hours. And to my surprised, they were indeed here within 24 hours. Pretty effective.

TM technician
But since the line is broken INSIDE of the property perimeter, that is out of Telekom Malaysia’s responsibility and they had to assign their contractor to sort it out. But after some negotiation with the visiting technician, we reached a deal to have it sorted personally. I repositioned and mounted the fallen wires back onto the wall and he helped me to do the reconnection.

Total cost: RM20. RM10 for the technician to have a drink. RM10 for the holder and wall plugs.

Roof truss bent
The strength of the wind could be seen through these bent roof trusses. I hope there’s no wind stronger than that in the future.

Malformed steel truss
Malformed steel trusses.

Coolman_wrx, are those trusses still safe for use?

Typhoon tailing over Miri City

16

May

It was Tuesday night and I was dining outside at Pujut 7. Just as I sat down and ordered food, the wind started to blew. Then rain follows. It splashed on the table and I had to move inside. After shifting, the wind blew the empty plates off the table and everyone in the restaurant were alarmed by this. The wind got stronger and it started to move things around. Chairs and tables, and then the shades. Workers rushed to close the roller shutter and shares were rolled up.

And these were the aftermath of the gust of wind.

Chaos on the road
Chaos on the road.

Fallen Debris on the road
Fallen debris on the Permyjaya roundabout. There was like about 8-10 trees fallen along the Pujut-Lutong highway. Traffic was totally halted then.

Traffic Halted
Fallen tree on the Tudan-Emart road. Traffic was totally halted for almost 30 seconds minutes because there was another tree blocking the other side of the road in front. And some stupid driver was stubborn and didn’t want to give way. So both side were stuck for half an hour or so until someone came down the car and negotiate a way out.

Typhoon was tailing over Miri. And that was just the tail of the typhoon, with its eyes concentrating in the Philippines’ northern islands. I wonder how it would be if the eyes were in Miri?
