Day 3 ended with most counters seeing red as investors were going after some profit taking activities. Panic ran through most of the players as the US markets were down overnight. Hang Seng and Nikkei were down too as a result of profit taking. Those who bought into the plunge takes profit at the end of the day.

Anyone foresee Silver Bird flying high today? Silver Bird Group Berhad’s warrant (Silver-WA) being the most active stock of the day.

These are the counters that made me money today.

JAKS went on and closed on a high of 1.130. I bought it at 0.985 and sold it at 1.047. Netting a profit of 0.062 for each share. Total change of the day was 0.110.

KUB Malaysia Berhad (KUB). Bought at 0.955 and sold for 0.977. Making a profit of 0.022 per share. Total change of the day was 0.03.

Yesterday saw BJcorp being the most traded counter with 940,113 shares changing hand and up 85cent. Today, BJCorp started with a high flyer and then stabilizes through the afternoon and ending high at 0.79. Profited a chunk with a couple of big buys over the 2 days.

As for being a real noob in the stock market, I was taught a few important lessons today in the Bursa Pursuit, a real world stock market simulation game created by Bursa Malaysia. It was initiated to attract youngsters to take up and learn how to invest in the stock market.

They even prepared a host of mouth-watering cash prizes - with a top prize of RM100,000! I thought it is very educational and yet, challenging. Back in Australia, a few years back, their high school students were already exposed to similar stock market games based on stats from the real stock market. I think this is a very good initiative from Bursa Malaysia to expose us to the bulls and bears of the Malaysian stock market.

I ended the day ranked 557.

Today’s Trading Highlights:
Bought a total of 170 lots (1 lot = 100 shares) in Telekom Malaysia (TM) this morning at RM10.60 average and sold 70 lots in the afternoon at RM10.625.

At around 11:20am, where my profit reached RM4,500+, I missed the chance to sell it cause I thought of holding it until a few days later and I went on to do my work. But then I sold 70 lots in the afternoon cause I was worried it would slump below my cost price. A lesson that cost me RM4,000. Pretty expensive :/ It was my first trade and I didn’t know what to do with it. I never thought of selling it in the first place. Duh.

But perhaps, tomorrow will be a better day?

JAKS was the hottest stock for the day as it tops the trading volume of the day at 626,526. I joined the JAKS bandwagon to rip some fast cash only at about 4:20pm when they’re selling at 0.995/share.

I went in an bought 223 lots at an average of 0.986/share and sold 230 lots for 1.02/share.
22107.97 (Cost of Shares) - 22,233.27 (Selling Price) = RM125.3* (Net Profit), with 303 remaining shares worth RM5.58 remaining on my hand.

*the broker’s commission of 0.42% is factored in.

However, the fun was spoilt as there were a few really annoying issues when using the BursaPursuit website.

1) They did not ask you whether you would like keep your “login” status and directly logs you off. I’m not sure if this happens with a real online trading website, maybe it’s for security purposes. Perhaps they should set a time threshold (5-10 seconds) for users to decide whether to continue logged in or not.

2) Server couldn’t handle the number of user requests.
This game is so hot in Malaysia now and they should be prepared for the massive load on their servers.

Anyhow, let’s hope for a better trading experience tomorrow.
