Typhoon tailing over Miri City

16

May

It was Tuesday night and I was dining outside at Pujut 7. Just as I sat down and ordered food, the wind started to blew. Then rain follows. It splashed on the table and I had to move inside. After shifting, the wind blew the empty plates off the table and everyone in the restaurant were alarmed by this. The wind got stronger and it started to move things around. Chairs and tables, and then the shades. Workers rushed to close the roller shutter and shares were rolled up.

And these were the aftermath of the gust of wind.

Chaos on the road
Chaos on the road.

Fallen Debris on the road
Fallen debris on the Permyjaya roundabout. There was like about 8-10 trees fallen along the Pujut-Lutong highway. Traffic was totally halted then.

Traffic Halted
Fallen tree on the Tudan-Emart road. Traffic was totally halted for almost 30 seconds minutes because there was another tree blocking the other side of the road in front. And some stupid driver was stubborn and didn’t want to give way. So both side were stuck for half an hour or so until someone came down the car and negotiate a way out.

Typhoon was tailing over Miri. And that was just the tail of the typhoon, with its eyes concentrating in the Philippines’ northern islands. I wonder how it would be if the eyes were in Miri?

Freak Accident at Lutong Traffic Light Junction

04

May

Just witnessed a freak accident yesterday night right at the Lutong traffic light junction. An oncoming car from Miri City’s direction drove into the wrong way and bumped right into the car ahead of us.

The red line shows how the car moves from its supposedly correct direction, to the other side, and bumped into the Wira in front of us.

Accident
The driver was so furious that he came out and pulled the culprit driver out for a tussle.

Accident from another angle
This is another shot from the opposite angle. Clearly shows the incident.

Fortunately, the driver was not speeding, and it was just a minor collision. But I don’t understand how did he manage to take the wrong direction and went into the wrong road.

I Kill You!

09

April

This should be my favorite Youtube video clips of the year. I personally like the phrase, “I Kill You!” cause it’s short, significant, striking, and straight to the point. Forget the perfect grammar, he conveyed his message well.

I bring you, Ackhmed, the Dead Suicide Bomber. Played by Jeff Dunham. Enjoy the clip, fellas, and good nite to you!

Checkpoint 1 - 2 | Checkpoint 3 | Checkpoint 4 | Road Works | Finishing Touches

The road builders came early in the morning to get things started. The machines started roaring since 7.30 in the morning.
Machineries
The road paving machine and a truckload full of road tar, is that how you call that pile of hot cooked, black-colored rocks?

Compressor
The rocks are compressed for the final time before it gets sprayed with a coat of tar as primer.

Work Starts
Let the work begins!

Edge of the wall
Work gets tough when the tar meets the edge. Manual labor comes in. It’ll be compressed by machine, shown later.

Final part of the road.
This is the final part of the road. Work progress 99%.

Little Compressor
This is the machine that I’ve mentioned earlier. The little compressor. Compresses the road edge, those hard to reach places by the roller compressor, e.g. the edge of the walls.

The road is 100% completed at estimated 5pm in the afternoon. The end.
