Today is the last day of the Pig year in the Chinese calendar as we’re crossing into the Rat Year in 2008. The mood is not as passionate as previous years partly due to the worsening economic condition that we’re suffering now.

Expect less firework show on the eve’s night. Everyone’s talking about it this year, playing firecrackers is like burning your money, especially the colorful ones that goes into the sky, you could lose up to RM500 in less than 5 minutes. That’s a large sum of money today and most of us are not prepared to shoot them up into the sky. Better keep them in your pocket, right?

Anyway, traditions are traditions. Over the years, before we close for the festive holidays, setting off a couple of firecrackers is a must.
