Checkpoint 1 – 2 | Checkpoint 3 | Checkpoint 4 | Road Works | Finishing Touches
A new building is currently under construction in Tudan. Upon completion, it will accommodate my future business activities in Miri. The construction site is based at the traffic light junction between the Tudan-Kuala Baram Highway and the road leading to E-mart or the new Permyjaya township. This is a log of my scheduled checks within the last couple of months.
Checkpoint 1: The Foundation

This is the remains of a 2-storey long house which was later demolished to make way for the construction. It was initially built to accommodate some Iban settlers at a minimal rental fee.

It’s now turned into a store room for the building materials.

Sands by the road side. Got fined by Miri City Council for road cleanliness issues. Shit.

Cement columns had been piled down a couple of days earlier and foundation works can begin.

Rain poured over night and the construction site is filled with water. Waiting for it to dry up a little before laying the sub-level platform.
Checkpoint 2: The Platform

This is a simple tool to assist in making the rectangular rings that will be a critical part in holding the building’s main structural support system.

Labour working on the square ring.

The rectangular steel ring.

Female labour working on the steel beam’s skeletons. Tying up the square rings to the main steel rods.

After the whole structure is finished, it’ll be lowered into the mold that will hold the cement later.

Cement will be poured into the “drain” mold, and when it all hardens, it’ll then become the building’s primary horizontal support beams. The vertical ones are shown in the middle of the photo.

This is the vertical columns that will hold the horizontal ones above.

Jungle of wood works to hold the massive platform on the first floor. Cement will be poured into the platform mold.

LadyBird: Automotive.
clement: If you’re in the Krokop area, where the land is stiff hard, you can build a 2-storey building without pilings. But I think that was 20 years ago, legislations today do not allow that.
But mine’s in the swampy land of Tudan. So, of course there’s pilings before the cement columns.

So we can go here (soon) to get consultation on how best to modify our cars, get a painting job, assemble custom-designed spoilers, car stickers bearing “uchukeling.com”, etc.?
And, not getting into trouble during road blocks
7. Alexallied | October 22nd, 2007 at 6:24 pm
sirsc: It’s confidential dude. But you can get a quantity surveyor to estimate the price for you
Madness: The cement pilings were piled until they hit solid ground.
Uchu Keling: Yeah, it’s basically a one-stop auto shop for all that. On top of that, we’re planning to include tyre services and rims, household hardwares, door locks, etc etc.
