Maxis Broadband vs. TMnet’s Narrowband
16
September
Good news from Maxis as they’re setting up to launch broadband service for residential users.
Good news for us current Streamyx narrowband users, and bad news for TMnut. If they’re yet to improve their tight-ass network infrastructure, come next year, I’m predicting that most, if not all of those techies out there will make the switch. I’m eagerly waiting for their pricings to be released. It’s scheduled on September the 26th.
I was actually wondering, would Maxis be able to break Telekom Malaysia’s telecommunication monopoly in Malaysia? With VoIP, there’s no such need for any land-line anymore, which means Telekom Malaysia might as well let all their copper-cable be cut and stolen, like what it’s happening now here in Sarawak.
Come y’all, let’s make the switch!!

I’m currently using Maxis Broadband. Have been using it for quite some time already. It’s kinda slow – not as speedy as streamyx though. but the mobility is great. CON : takes up most of your handphone’s battery pack, so you’ll need a separate phone as your modem.
2. imhatji | January 18th, 2007 at 6:54 am
Can you tell me if Maxis broadband (wireless) is available throughout KL? We stay in TTDI. Like others, I am tired of the slowness of Streamyx. Still glad to have it, but would change if I could improve.
3. ManmathanXpress | January 22nd, 2007 at 4:50 am
I’m using it for about 1 month, really satisfied with the speed. Streamyx promised 1M, but anyone got it even 70% of it???
Here the 384, i got constant download about 150-250kbps. For me it’s the best solution since it’s portable cause i’m travel alot. Worth a try, since they give 1 month free trial.
I will closed my streamyx account next month.
4. Jason | February 2nd, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Im using Maxis Wireless Broadband for 1 week. It is extreamly slow not as TM streamyx. I just woundering I should continue Maxis or stick back to TM??????
5. Janet | February 26th, 2007 at 7:27 pm
I just get to install my maxis today. I feel very disappointed that the speed is slow.
And it is 30 day free. but when i read the condition, it said that i need to return my moderm to maxis personally. sad!!!
6. furto | March 13th, 2007 at 12:05 am
if you are unsatisfied, please return ASAP.
my guy came middle of the month to install, and they counted the 30 days from the beginning of the month! so when i returned after about 3 weeks due to the slow speed, i get billed for it a week later!
RM200++! so my advise is that, if you dont like it return it asap.

Maxis broadband is good but it has problem. The default setting for their modem are in 3G (UMTS) mode.. but what about no 3G coverage area? That the big problem.. currently the UMTS system has bug. When recently UMTS signal is drop, then it will change to GSM as known EDGE or GPRS.That ok,but when suddenly UMTS signal is back then that is the problem.UMTS require a lot of waiting time to connect or also in certain cases not connect anymore.Currently I found temporary solution, the modem has to be set in GSM mode to be stable internet connection.Otherwise it will fail or not stable.. to configure the modem, go to address 192.168.0.1, in network select tab, select GSM prefered or GSM only.It will use EDGE or GPRS mode. The EDGE mode is the best and stable. The max speed for this setting around 200kbps and below.
For streamyx user, currently tm offer new ADSL modem capable up to 1.3Mbps full speed..the new modem is small and not like the old one,big and bulky.Certified by Streamyx R&D department. im able to download full speed at 1Mbps.The major problem for slow connection in streamyx are lack of well configure modem setting.Almost 70% of problem are hardware failure not the line.
For Maxis, plz replace a new modem with better and stable, plz offer smaller modem which is big and bulky, upgrade your 3G system laa.
For TM,plz fix your hardware bug and upgrade your bandwidth.

I just dont understand how come Maxis provide such a bad quality maxis broadband.
I get my maxis broadband on 24th Jan. and they said I start using it on 1st Jan, which they said written down in their system.
What I can do is, show them the receipt.
I would like to advice, please keep all the receipt.
9. maxis | April 7th, 2007 at 7:18 am
hi syamxp, pls call 1800 82 2000 to lodge a complaint on your maxis wireless broadband service. YOU SHOULD NOT SET THE MODEM TO GSM ONLY. The speed will be slow. BTW, there is no bug with UMTS. I would suggest that you connect in UMTS or WCDMA only and place the modem next to a window to get better service. I have mine next to a window and connected to a wifi router so that I can use it all over the house.
10. Mr. Bear | April 17th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
Screw Maxis. Bittorrent is a no no, and I needed it to download large files such as linux distro, conference videos, public data files (4gb/batch).
Maxis do have a limit of download data size set at 3GB/user/month. Not sure when will that come into effect.
We really need more network bandwith, cos we “Cinta IT”.

[...] I got one more solution. Go for Maxis broadband. I’m totally not sure how good and how bad it is. The good thing is, they will give me 1 month trial period where I can return the wireless modem back to Maxis if I’m not satisfied with the service. Hmm. No bad. High Speed 3G Network. Why not? [...]
12. maniac | April 22nd, 2007 at 8:46 pm
I’m using it at Miharja Condo, too bad… very SLOW! Can’t connect emule server until 12am, my comment is SLOW! SLOW! SLOW!
13. Eddie Chan | April 25th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
I got installed Maxis broadband today….. KL Setapak area.
Honestly, extremely dissapointed whether I set to 3G or GSM…. bad bad bad..
And, I felt very surprised here to know some of you encountered dozens of difficulty and stupid unfair from the return cases. Today is 25 April, they might charged me later or said I start on 1st April???? But, if not wrong, I read b4 in terms and conditions, they only calculate starting the 30 days from Installation date.. rite???
I am so long as a Maxis(012) phone line consumer, but really ( x 100 times ) dissappointed on the extremely SLOW Maxis broadband
… should call it Maxis narrowband.. sad
14. andylkw | April 28th, 2007 at 1:56 am
Hahaha, I just tooting got my maxis yesterday. B4 I signed up, they told me “Your area got, very fast connection one. Can stream youtube easily.” what the heck, when they came yesterday, No 3G in sight, only using GPRS. Some more, if I sign the paper, there will be no more 30 days trials and I have to use it for 1 and a half years. if not there will be penalties…. Now I am stuck with GPRS only….. Maxis cheated me…………….
15. teep0h | April 29th, 2007 at 2:14 am
My biggest regret getting Maxis broadband. Even with the hiccups with tmnut, at least still can download stuff, P2P etc.
With Maxis, only during the trial period I had good speeds, after that has been nothing but useless. Too bad I already signed up and fell for their con and will be stuck for 2 years.
So meanwhile I just junked their modem and pay the monthly fee till end of contract while still having to pay for Streamyx too……..Disappointed and full of regret but noo point since they don’t bother.
Screw u Maxis!!!!

I agreed with Janet on Maxis billing system error. My case almost similar as i received 1st billing period on Dec 2006 – Jan 2007 whereby my maxis broadband activation date is on 10th Jan 2007. Luckily found that error & manage to get refund for the system error after complaint to Maxis customer service.
18. Fifty-Fifty | July 26th, 2007 at 5:33 am
Obviously, Maxis billing is slow. I have to go to their KLCC outlet to check and pay the bill. Sucks!
Couple of the NOC/1800 82 2000 sounds pretty arrogant and sounds like they are pro in the networking/wireless stuffs when in fact, they are just a creepy shit who follow the “script” when dealing with problems. I am unable to use my 3G broadband for almost 2 weeks when I got them, and Maxis seems can’t be bothered about it.
I’ve been working as Network Engineer (routing/switching, security & wireless) for almost 10 years -and I would say they are sucks!
19. Alex | August 14th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
After reading all your complaints and pains, I must agree with some of you, that Maxis HSPDA does not live up to its mark. It was supposed to be 15x faster than dial-up and when I used CNET’s bandwidth tester, guess what? It was at 33.3kbps! I really wonder if I should even switch to dial-up. Like some of you mentioned, the 1-month trial period is a “honeymoon”. After which, your speed gets much slower, and the modem gets crazier. I had mine replaced 4 times! That shows that the broadband engineering guys in Maxis are not evaluating their vendors properly.
In spite of the slowness & etc, Maxis customer support is commendable, as compared to TMnet, but still very far away from broadband operators in other countries.
TMnet customer support can sometimes make you vomit blood and really make you bend to your knees, just to ask them to come over & resolve the fault. Maxis on the other hand, does send “someone” maybe not from Maxis, but at least your problem gets attended.
So, for some of you who are contemplating if you should get the Maxis broadband experience, consider this : Do you need mobility? If yes, Maxis is the way. But if you need to BT, then Maxis is NO NO. Your BT virtually doesn’t work, whether Maxis states its fair-policy garbage & etc… it won’t work at ALL!

i’m staying at bandar baru bangi. Can anybody comment about my intention to use maxis bb. how to check..
22. Alexallied | September 19th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
By the way, in their policy, they stated that:
BitTorrent are NOT allowed and there’s a bandwidth cap of 3GB for each user.
They even go further by disconnecting you after a period of time inactive.
I don’t think Maxis broadband has matured to a stage where they can overtake TMNut’s streamyx yet. Sad.
23. icky | October 2nd, 2007 at 11:19 pm
Sam,
Im using maxis wireless bb in sek3 bdr baru bangi which is also in their hsdpa coverage…supposely to reach dl speeds of up to 3.6kbps which is total bullshit! prior to subscription, i tested the speed with a friends modem (384 package) in my area, and to my disappointment it never reached beyond 200kbps. without any other options, i subscribed to the same package.
So DONT BOTHER going for the Advance(640kbps) or the Power(
24. Swift | October 5th, 2007 at 11:57 am
Using it for the 1st day for the Power package 3.6Mbps
If you think the money you pay the speed can go up to 3.6kbps for sure you will be desappointed.
Come on guys… the fee we pay is slightly higher then the RM88 paying to streamyx.
Haven’t try out torrent yet.
Pros
- Mobility, Easy installation
- No need to use telephone line.
Cons
- Happen that Maxis not cover the area with HSDPA yet. it will drop to 3G or EDGE
25. altis2go | October 8th, 2007 at 9:00 am
I have ask 1 of the Maxis outlet last week, they told me the wireless broadband will not be able to received signal more than 3rd floor and above, is that true? then what is the wireless for?
26. lawrence_00 | October 19th, 2007 at 11:35 pm
altis2go,
This stupid wireless really bring us a lot of trouble!!! “X” Maxis for 100 times!!! higher charges and bad service provider…stupid thing is we kenna con!!!
27. Kriz | October 20th, 2007 at 10:18 am
I’ve been subscribed to maxis bb 384 for 4 months, frankly the speed is extremely damn bloody slow…… Last week i just upgraded it to power plan hope it will be better but only get a slight improvement. Now i’m so disappointed with the service provide my maxis, really feel being cheated. Sometimes during at night time my modem got no signal at all…. haiz…. this occured quite frequent, even several complains to customer service but they keep put the blame on the modem, but did they ever realise later the service will resume if their server start working???? Why they don’t admit is their server problems…. My payment due for 1 month they barred my line, but for the loss of usage i don’t get any compensation from the no.1 telco… WTF??????? Really frustrated as i can’t terminate the line due to the tie up period of 18 months.
28. mie | December 11th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
yea,maxis bb is suck…connection UMTS (under power pakage)can get speed 120kbps ++ only…slow than a turtle…
29. sanji | January 5th, 2008 at 3:39 am
used to subscribe maxis before when they offer the trial period.speed was good but very unstable.when returned the modem, they charge around rm100 because data transfer exceeded 3Gb.
then i changed to celcom.no contract.no activation fee.no limitation on data transfer.subscribed the rm68/month package for 384kbps.today i’m surfing at d max speed.fyi,i live in gombak.
admit that celcom’s datacard is expensive.so i searched n found cheaper one at http://www.3gcard.myceloteh.com where d price is nearly half of celcom’s price.

I agree with you all..I have been use maxis broadband almost 10 month.. my area is support 3G+ area (maybe I am lucky coz my house near USM) ..btw,the speed still no fast enough, the most higher download speed is reach 80kbps only, but upload sure very slow..Somemore will naik harga..the first 6 month cost RM 68 ..after 6month cost RM83 (WTF,i never use modem do call before…still need use the phone service cost around RM15)..Somemore i am a gamer,i like to play online games like Dota ,AuditionSea or else..but …i never complete play Dota before coz of lagging, disconnect and everytime i play AuditionSea is easy disconnect for what reason i also dunno…i really unlike the connection suddenly disconnect and wait auto connect back…and REALLY HARD SIGN IN MSN !NEED RECONNECT MANY TIME ONLY BERJAYA SIGN IN! And the DNS and Keyport is easy having error…

Any suggestion not to pay that RM78 fro 18 months?

i hate maxis bb i’ve been using it for 1 year and 2 months i’ll be free in 4 months, i’m thinking of getting celcom, is it really better than maxis
35. queman | March 28th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
MAXIS is screwing around with the consumer…. lets organise a walk in to maxis HQ centre in KLCC and ask for service cancellation. I have been using this stupid service since june 2007 and till now, i have called maxis 10 times…. they have come and change my modem 3 times… and i have even challeged them to come to my office to prove that their 3G is working… but till now…no one with B#LLs came..
they keep sending in their 3rd party installers to rectify the problem which cannot be rectified… because… its not a PROBLEM… its their stupid service level… thats all they have…
if people can make a change on who runs the country… i think we can change how MAXIS treats its customers and tell everyone how the are cheating the public.
all their stupid advertisements are showing kbps, which equals to KILO-BITS-PER-SECOND…. that means what ever you getting you divide by 8, then you will get the actual THROUGHPUT speed which comes to about 30 to 40 kilo BYTES per second.
8 kilo BITS = 1 kilo BYTE
1000 kilo BYTE = 1 MEGA BYTE
so we are actually get crawling speed from these MAXIS and STREAMYX….. might as well just get dial up … which comes up to the same speed….
MALAYSIAN ISPs all BL**DY LIARS
p/s: but among the cheating ediots, i would say Streamyx is the better jack!!!
Dont go for any wireless 3G or 4G broadband…it just WONT WORK IN MALAYSIA.
STICK to WIRES till further notice. its for your own good. else you will end up poor and frustrated.

If you just signed-up maxis broadband service and suffer from the slow speed. Your area might not coverage by their broadband service.
Maxis Broadband termination steps…
If you are in between 7 days of your purchase,
(1) Go directly to Maxis Center for service termination w/o penalty.
(2) Drop a complains email to MCMC and put e-complains on NCCC.
http://nccc.org.my/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=697&Itemid=71
SKMM Consumer Complaints Bureau
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission
63000 Cyberjaya, Selangor
Attention: Consumer Protection Department
Tel: 03-86888000
Fax: 03-86881880
Complaint Hotline: 1-800-888-030
Email: aduanskmm@cmc.gov.my
I dont know malaysia complain channel will really work or not. But no harm to try and get back our registation fees as well. As we are really being cheated by such a big company.
If you are after 7 days of purchase, write a complain letter and cc to MCMC ask for termination of the service without penalty. I dont know this will work or not, but better than do nothing and continue paying $$$ and suffer for the slow connecting speed.

What happen to Maxis broadband. couple month ago, it very fast that streamyx. Now, it’s look like too slow that dial-up. Why should this happen?. Contract signed proceed for 1 1/2 year, that’s mean this is trap already. We need Maxis to advice. To upload only 1mb file take 3minute duration. Hello Maxis, your line bad already. I think your company got problem in future if you not troubleshoot this case. If this kind of problem still remain, I think people not trust you’re anymore. My question, should we buy your services in future? Dear all Maxis president, Please aware before this thing go to media. Hello all Malaysian friends, it’s that mean we need to bar Maxis.

lol even Celcom 3G worker proved to me (in front of my own eyes),the power of their broadband speed.2mbps dl speed but the cost to buy that E220 USB modem is just =.=””
What bout Maxis?Had they ever put in their testing pc/laptop any of those speed test site? The one that i go doesn’t even show me any of it.And i just got cheated =p teheee..
So to those that wanna register for Maxis BB,here’s a good advice…go to their testing pc (the one connected to their broadband service) and perform your own dl speed test. You will be surprise to see how powderful their dl speed is.

DO NOT SIGN UP TO MAXIS BROADBAND!
If you love your kids, don’t let them use Maxis broadband.

Ladies and gentlemen,
I hear your woes. I hear your frustrations. I will not go about my stories and how shitty our services are (because I rather not start typing my banters that’s equivalent of LOTR books) but I offer a solution. DO NOT waste your anger in emails or calls to Call Centre. I suggest you find the email address of those certain companies CEO, COO or any head honco bombard them with your complaint emails, just make sure it’s written professionally don’t send out childish hate mails to them but actually state your grief. My mail was sent to TMNet’s CEO, I stated that my connection was very slow and always had interruptions and added that TMNEt haven’t put up with what they promised to me. Putting fuel to the fire I cynically added that how does this go with the PM’s intention of making Lembah Klang as the new Cyber Corridor when TMNEt have the professionalism of a 12 year old? Guess what? The next day after sending that mail I got a very courteous (very surprising indeed on how they treat me on the phone) and super helpful call from their support. I guess that you don’t need to scream to get what you want, you just need to send that dreaded mail to the right people. Try it. Find the board of directors’ emails and bombard them with your question, just make sure make it very professional, technical and if you can remind them of their words and promises in their advertisements.

Unbelieavable!
Maxis Broadband that is…what else is new eh?
I’m a Maxis Broadband Power Package subscriber. You know, the package which delivers broadband service of ‘UP TO 3.6 Mbps’. And would you like to know my average broadband speed?
Less than 100 Kbps.
Okay, so there’s this revolutionary concept practised by Maxis, called the ‘Customer Service Dept’, so I thought I’d give a go.
*Welcome Tone* Welcome To Maxis Broadband! You will now be…*yadda yadda* you know da drill…
Customer Service Operator : Haro! Wercome to Maxis Bloadbend, my name’s Hardfwvasukvsy. How may I herp yew?
Me: Errr, who’s that on the line again?
CSO: My name’s Hardghwyyyfvags. How can I herp yew, Sir?
Me: Your name is wha..ahh forget it. Anyway, my acct info is *such&such* and I’d like to complain about my very slow broadband speed, which is below 100 Kbps, in fact at the moment its operating around 50 Kbps at the moment. Can you help me?
CSO: Sir, can yew do da spit test?
Me: The what?
CSO: The spit test. Dat wan can test yeor internet spit.
Me: Oh ya, ya..I know that speed test, and I’ve already done so. Like I said, its giving me results of average 100 Kbps, which is damn slow to be honest. Is there any problems with the network, or have I done anything wrong?
CSO: I check four yewww. Pls howldd, Mister.
5 minutes…
CSO: Ok, according to our records, yew have oledi exceet the alokatet 3 Gigs permonth alokasyen. Tats waii ywor spit is seloww.
Me: I’m fine with the exceeded 3 Gigs allocation. But I’m still paying RM98 a month. Dont you think you’re shortchanging your customers? It’s not fair letting your customers surfs at ridiculous speeds when they’re paying the asked amount, dont you agree? Now what do you think should be the solution here? I’m paying as I should and you should offer me the subscribed service (as you should). Rightly so, yes?
CSO: Have you realeee done yowr spit test?
Me: You’ve been a real help, Miss..whatsyername again?
CSO: Hwraudgfheutrfy. Is there anything else sir?
Me: There’s plenty more, but I doubt you can help me, Miss…err, whatever. Thank you.
CSO: Thank keyewwwww.
I’ve decided to just wait out my Maxis subscription until P1 Wimax is introduced into my residential area. I just hope P1 Wimax wont be another heartache saga for me yet again.

To Maxis Customer Services Dept. Could you please tell your Customer Service Operators to be more articulate when mentioning their names on the phone? Be clear ad articulate, please, I beg you.
I swear the other day this opeartor lady mentioned her name as ‘Punani’, I really do. I felt so awkward all the time when I was on the line with her.

okay, too bad i’m not a maxis user since my area, the wireless connection only detected 3G. well that’s what you can expect for being in Terengganu’s Village. which village is none of your concern.
i just wanna said that maxis is fast connection (according to the “UP TO 3.6MBPS” shit). but with that kind of fast connection, it got limited storage and NO BITTORRENT ALLOWED!!! KEEP THAT IN MIND FOR THE LOVE SHAKE!!!
streamyx on the other hand, have a slow bandwidth but UNLIMITED USAGE (certain package, cheapest = RM 66). it said that it offer 1MBPS, don’t be confused. streamyx don’t give ya and your butt a total 1MBPS download speed. here’s your reference:
512 (i don’t have to mention all package)
—-
RM66 = 44kb/s(DL) , 20kb/s(UP)
RM77 = 50-60kb/s (DL) , 25kb/s (UP)
1.0MBPS
——-
RM88 = 120-150kb/s (UP) , 30-40 kb/s (UP)
2.0 MBPS package most likely between 200-250kb/s (DL) , 50-60 kb/s (UP)
4.0 MBPS package = 400-500kb/s (DL) , 80-100 kb/s (UP)
*DL = DOWNLOAD SPEED
*UP = UPLOAD SPEED
THINK!!! so what if you have a fast connection if you got a limitation on your total usage…
i just take the RM77 package and my monthly bills show that i downloading around 45-55GB in a month. i admit 50-60kb/s is quite slow but AT LEAST IT IS UNLIMITED!!!!
JUST THINK OF THE USAGE!!!! i’m a downloader so i must choose the unlimited one.

Maxis broadband is not really good as advertise. My 1st bad experience is – slow. I did 2 to 3 calls per-day to complaint to Customer Service. As usual as above, I gave up. I was plan to cancel during the “try” period expire.
Here came the 2nd bad experience – Customer Service. Due to some reason, I need to outstation during the last few days of expiration. So I called for solution. Maxis BB (1st Service Officer) say, “OK, I will make appointment so that you can return the modem 2 days after the tried period”. I was happy but after I am in outstation, I call again to verify with Maxis BB but I get a very impatient answer, “NO, We did not have such arrangement, please return the modem by today in **outstation** maxis centre!”. Any idea? I even gave him the officer that promise but he insist (with unpatient) NO, NO SUCH PRACTICE!.
OK, no choice. But the 3rd come in – Every begin of month, I will suffer slow rate until 20kpbs because FAIRLY USAGE! I don’t think this was a good practice! No one call or email me about propose upgrade because every month my usage is high. Until I call & complaint!
Of course, the TM also not as goog as advertise but at lease not until <56kpbs which less then Dial Up!
This month was the 12 months of my subscription. After the “long” suffer, I am looking for an alternative. Seems I only have TM Streamyx because P1 WL (no service), Jaring WL (no service), 4G WL (no service) ….
yeah, all the broadband users in M’sia have the same problem.
Frankly, all the service provide company just care bout their sales than quality.
I use wireless broadband service for 3 years. now using P1, constant DC,slow speed, file few
complain in a week… all the standard problem in every wireless service.
tried almost all the available service in my area, but not a single 1 company’s service really up to what they ‘claim’ to be, or some really catchy T&C that really FXXk users up…
Any good wireless broadband service in M’sia? I’ll said No.

I have been using Maxis broadband for almost a year. Fisrt when using it. It was Ok. After month by month the connection started reduce. Just imagine from HSDPA 5 bars drop to 1 bar. Sometimes have to change to GPRS when suddenly the connection cut.
When I complaint through email I received a very embrassing stupid Malaysian answer ” Your usage of the connection are over limit”
So is this what I get for a unlimited connection which I have to pay RM138 per month?.

THE WORST broadband in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya is Maxis Broadband! I subscribe for the
advanced package at 640kbps as advised by their outlet [It's the maximum they can offer]. I’m lucky to get 50kbps anytime I log on! The only consistent thing about Maxis Broadband is their billing and disconnection! I’m one of the lucky few who have NO CHOICE but to subscribe to Maxis because they have a monopoly in the area. No Telekom.. Only Maxis. The pathetic reasoning for their pathetic service is “too many users”, yet they are aggressively promoting and subscribing new users. Their customer service told me to check my internet speed in order for them to address my slow connection and you can only use THEIR speed check. It takes about 6hrs with my speed to download the speed check program. And telling them it takes 6hrs didn’t help either. An ox could have figured that one out? Sheer brilliance on the part of Maxis, I must say! But hey, I don’t blame them it’s a business right? And who are we customers to complain if we get our rear end rammed? The bigger you are, the harder we get it!

I FELT CHEATED BY MAXIS WHEN THEY REALLY LIMIT THE P2P USAGE. How is that possible?
63. iRMalaysian | October 6th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
Maxis is bullshit. You know what is my download speed? Can’t even pass 10kb/s. Sometimes fast, sometimes can’t even load a page. Sometimes make you really happy, then it will dc. Do you think there are problems like these in other countries? I doubt it.

Have been using Maxis for about 7 months already. Really slow, slow…. Really sucks. Regret getting Maxis. Yes, 100% agreed with Maxis customer, July 28, 2008 comment (1 year ago).
“DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MAXIS BROADBAND”
Problems:
1) Very slow .. and very often cannot connect.
2) Be warned! They have a 3GB download limit per month.
3) If you want to terminate your contract within the first year, you have to pay RM200. Shit!
From the comments, can see that there is still no service improvement since 2006.

From what i’ve read… didnt need to chk other sites for customers’ review on Maxis BB or from any other telcos here in Malaysia. There’s no need to pass off technical knowledge to the consumers here. Basically, consumers should know what the terms and conditions of each telcos service contract apply to them.
1. Know of the usage limit per mth based on your package. E.g. 3GB per mth. Go over that, Maxis has the right to de-throttle (reduce) your speed for that mth. You want higher limit, apply higher package.
2. Chk your coverage at your location from Maxis itself before you first apply. If you are a maxis subscriber, chk with the cust service through your hphone. Else, there are many ways to reach maxis. Chk the paper or ask friends for help to reach the nearest Maxis centre and ask about your area. If it’s said as ‘average speed’ don’t expect consistent high speed obviously.
3. Be aware of the 7 days refund policy. They will hassle you if you return after the week you applied. Why? Simply because the policy is already stated in your terms and conditions that you signed up for. You ask me, that’s not Maxis’s fault that you hv failed to return within the stipulated period and ask for a refund. Fact, they have the right to consider you under a basic 1 year contract already and proceed to bill you per mth accordingly if you fail to return for a refund within the 7 days.
3. About the refund process, if returned within 7 days your deposit of rm100 (If i’m not wrong it applies for all BB packages) will only be returned through mailed cheque after given a rest period of about 1-2 mths. No COD immediately on return. Why? Simply coz you don’t swindle or play a con on them and start applying new package immediately. That’s their financial security methods. (But let me tell you about their methods later…. HEEEEE HEEEEEEEEEE! You’ll laugh and be envious too of me…maybe.)
4. Uhhhhm…what else……eh? …Ok, bout learning how much you actually hv used per mth! If you requested paper bill, they mail it to u. Else, via email or login into maxis.com.my and chk. (Ohhhhh maaaan, … wait till i get to the end about methods not thoroughly thought of!) As a former 7 days user and now renting the modem from someone known to me, i’ve at first asked that i receive email billing when i applied. So, i don’t know if details of mthly usage are splurged in paper bill. Heck, i cant even remember if email billing had that detail, come to think of it! Anyways, we bash bout dat shortly later. What else…..?
5. Oh yeeeeaaah….. 1 yr contract termination terms. As you should know, 1 yr means 1 YEAR! At least. If you get sick with the service, u need to kindly pay off the remaining mths usage to Maxis or get axxed with court letter. Meaning, if u use for only 6 mths from date of application and intend 2 terminate ur account, they hv the right to harass u for the remaining mths’ amount total. So if you pay RM88 per mth based, to terminate after only 6 mths, u need 2 pay only RM528! Then, you get back RM100 after
1-2 mths’ time from date of termination. (Or, after 7-8 mths’ time…hmmmm, not sure bout this.)
6. Do we really need to get technical after all??
Yes, we do, folks. At least a wee bit to understand…. the ‘WHY’s! First, you would cry “WWWWWHHYYYYYY MEEEEEEEE???!!!” You cry in such a manner coz you are sick of the speed. That has already been explained…. bout the ‘de-throttle’ thingy? However, there are other factors that affect your speed other than cap limits(Mthly usage). If you hv had good speed at 1st and enjoying the cruise for a while, there are bound to be road bullies waiting 2 block you or stalk you soon. I’m talking bout viruses, trojans, worms, caterpillars…. no, not caterpillars… ad wares, spywares, malwares, tupperwares…. u get what i’m saying. They slow u down. They want 2 stalk u, or want 2 cut you through traffic, stop the traffic, divert the traffic, be a traffic cop…… and plain TRAFFICKING! Simply said, cracklings (top hackies & whatnot) hate the internet being used as a biz tool. They want it only used for communication. So, they want to cut the Corps’ buck a while but who’s victimised 1st? You are!) So, bring on your shields! 1 isnt enuff. Find more 2 cover you almost thorougly. You would want a high speed tank on the highway so nobody can stop or slow u!! Update your shields (Your anti-virus or spy removing tools ler!) not everyday but once in a while. Clear those lil pests away n c if it makes a difference. C if your ‘tank’ smashes through the traffic! But…HEH HEHHHH….. jus when u thought u got the solution…. something… dono wat… hits ur works! Gueeesssssss wat.
7. You are not only being hit by these pesky sources but from Corps’ themselves. Thought bout it? You want proof, i guess. A very simple proof; take this, go into Maxis’s website and then do some searching around for troubleshooting solutions. There’ll be an area about solving email blocks. (Or just right click anywhere outside of the web page but not on flash animes… and go to view source. You will open the web page in html jargon using maybe notepad by default. Scroll down bottom somewhere & u will find something like this:-… ) “if you have a streamyx email, u need to get TM to unblock your f*n’ ass… and stuff… ”
Excuse me? Is Maxis still sucking on TM’s big fat cock?? I mean… after all the time of marketing and shooting rockets sending satellites in space to even serve S.E.A.n market and all …. they hv to still hang under the GLC TM?!!
Ppl, …………… Malaysia won’t go far!
If they do, it’s coz they’re still sucking on big mama’s tits n mama say “I’m gonna do this. Watch mama do this, lil sonny! Later, when you grow an inch taller, you
