RH Hotel in Sibu

December
Many people had come to my blog seeking for RH Hotel’s contact number. Obviously, for a new hotel, they had not yet been published on Yellowpages. So I went on and called their parent company, Rimbunan Hijau Sdn. Bhd. and got their number. I then made a confirmation call to RH Hotel to be doubly sure. Here goes.
For bookings, please call:Rimbunan Hijau Hotel, Sibu (Formerly known as Everly Hotel)
Contact No.: 084-365888
Took a lot of pics of my hometown last time I was back. I took the chance to try out the new 4-star hotel in town, RH Hotel (formerly known as Everly Hotel).
There’s one catch in their sub-level parking area where you’ve to pay RM5 (approximate, forgot the actual price) regardless of whether you’re just trying to enquire about their room rates/availability, or just there to take a piss. Many other hotels, or shopping complexes allow a 10-15 minutes free parking threshold for customers who’re just there for some quick business. I wouldn’t be down at the parking lot if there’s enough parking space up there, there just ain’t any left as the hotel is build around a crowded zone of the town. Heck, or else you think Rimbunan Hijau built this hotel for free?

Double Deluxe.

First thing I’ll check upon entering any hotel rooms I reside is the bathroom. I reckon a good clean bathroom represents the overall cleanliness and standards of the entire hotel. This bathroom is spacy and comfy.
Basically, my room is at the very corner of the hotel facing The Sanyan Tower, which means, I have a 180 degree view of Sibu town.

To the right is the view of Malaysia’s largest town square - the Sibu Town Square. You can also see Malaysia’s longest river powered by Teh-C Peng (Iced Milk Tea).

Center is the view of the Sanyan Tower on the right hand side, while the Public Bank Tower and Fu Yuan Methodist Church is the visible landmark here.

Pan a lil’ bit to the left and you’ll see almost all of Sibu’s hotels, plus clusters of old shops. Most of the shops are there since World War 2, I guess?

This is possibly the oldest surviving petrol station in Sibu. My parents used to re-fuel here when I was young, but the town had now expanded far beyond the center and more of fuel stations were built nearer to each of their respective community. Anyone still using Esso nowadays? Not much I guess.
I’ll be back in Sibu on New Year’s eve and New Year’s day. Catch up with me if you wish. See you there and Happy New Year!

Alex, you got a pretty good photos there… Good on ya, mate!
(the link doesn’t work…) I can’t find the room rate now… Does anyone know what’s the room rate/new website for the hotel?
Everly Hotel is no longer under the same management
9. JoSe | January 21st, 2007 at 7:13 am
Edwin,
Under the new management ( its was own & manage actually ) by Rimbunan Hijau itself, i’m not so sure with the new rate..approx around RM150++. Previously the web site was under http://www.vhhotels.com.
Try to call them at 084-365888 for inquiry.
10. clement | January 24th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
wow, you can remember all the name of the building? I duno some of it even.the river is powered by kopi o peng already la, ice tea ran out.. :p
11. Alexallied | January 25th, 2007 at 2:00 am
Edwin: Thanks mate.
clement: Yeah, I know almost all the buildings in Sibu, almost. I’m just afraid that someday our river banks will turn into a delta full of mud, prohibiting river transport and causing major floods. RH should stop cutting down forests.

Very nice overall pics of Sibu. Luckily no pics on Kpg Datu side. It’s an eyesore n the right side of d Phase 2 of Town Square smells bad too. According to d night guard, d place is pretty haunted somemore.

Basically just contacted the Hotel. They have confirmed that there is a change of management. They are now known as RH Hotel. The rates until July 2007 for a standard room is RM155, Double Deluxe is RM178.25 nett, and Executive room is RM233. They do not have a website and apparently its under construction. Hope my info helps!

I had a Fax No. at 084 365 999 for RH Hotel, Sibu.
Sent Fax for booking 10/10/07….no response.
Are you sure this hotel is still in business?
They will not last long ignoring potential customers!
27. Alexallied | October 19th, 2007 at 9:23 am
Enda: Perhaps you should call them up and make phone booking instead. I’m not sure whether they have personnel attending fax bookings.
28. Sibu Gal | October 22nd, 2007 at 9:43 am
Alex, looks like you are promoting RH Hotel pretty well..
29. Alexallied | October 22nd, 2007 at 9:59 am
Sibu Gal: I really think they should reward me for this review and publicity.
Anything would do, perhaps a 2 night stay at the hotel + free buffet lunch and breakfast?
Yo RH people, are you reading this?
30. Sibu Gal | October 22nd, 2007 at 12:25 pm
they should.. indeed..
31. sibuian | October 24th, 2007 at 1:08 am
Am originally from sibu (still got family there) hoping to visit sibu again during the new year. Any suggestions for a good hotel and rates? Just that a lot of relatives will be going back at the same time from all over the world and not a lot of space in relative’s house….. thanks
32. jakso | December 1st, 2007 at 7:24 pm

My message 19 October 2007….we were lucky to have someone in Sibu and they booked the room for us. Room was an “Executive Suite” and was excellent, as were the staff. Breakfast is Buffet style with both Chinese and European sections available.
General Manager is a Mr. James Ting but his email address at gmsibu@rhhotels.com.my (I emailed him to commend him and the hotel) was returned as “undeliverable”?
They have a hotel email address at reservationssibu@rhhotels.com.my but I have not tried it.
If you can get a reservation(!), I would strongly recommend this hotel!
34. sibuian | January 13th, 2008 at 12:55 am
Hi EDNA, how much did you paid for the executive suite?
The email address that I got is cateringsibu@rhhotels.com.my Not sure whether will be going t the same guy or not.
Been told my my cousin that booked with them the best thing to do is to ring them directly and speak to the reservations manager to book a room.
35. Alexallied | January 15th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Enda: I guess they just don’t have the time to setup a simple mailbox to receive e-mails?
Nevertheless, the hotel is definitely worth the stay.
As sibuian stated, best is to call them up and book. I suggest they emphasize on Internet booking facility.
36. Enda | January 16th, 2008 at 7:40 am
Sibuian, Normal Rate RM1000 plus 10% Service Charge and 5% State Tax reduced from RM1000 to RM385 plus taxes.
37. sibuian | January 16th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Thanks Edna for the info. Not bad price for a suite. Will try to see whether can booked a room for the coming CNY.
38. Angel | February 28th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
fun comment about Sibu town. It is an small and little old town, but warm coz our family and friends there. However, i personally feel that RH hotel is too expensive.LOL.

I have a free weekend (Sat&Sun) in Sibu. Can you recommend any places of interest to visit and local food to try.
The corner room in RH Hotel is a Standard, Double Deluxe or Executive room? Looks like a good choice .
