Great theme! But there is a small problem…
I’m trying to use accents (for example, in the blog description text) but it doesn’t work - the character vanishes! Example:
“Discutindo idéias” is displayed as “Discutindo idias”.
2. decypher | March 10th, 2006 at 2:50 am
wonderful.
i’ll be using it for reference.
3. LcF | March 10th, 2006 at 4:12 am
Finally! This is cool!
Showcase page? That’s a good idea.

Alexified - Another 3 Columns WordPress Theme by Malaysian…
Alex just released his beautiful three columns wordpress theme, named “Alexified”.
……
5. Swifty | March 10th, 2006 at 5:31 am
Hm, might even consider using this for my Swifty Works.
6. wuching | March 10th, 2006 at 7:31 am
u know i’m really bad at this but can i use it with blogspot?
7. Che-Cheh | March 10th, 2006 at 9:38 am
Congrats Alex!
8. Alex | March 10th, 2006 at 11:19 am
Sandro Rib: That should be a sIFR font issue. The font that I’ve used for usual text - “text.swf” doesn’t come with accent fonts, unfortunately :/. You could create a .swf font set that has accent in it with this pack here.
Tell me if you need further advice.
decypher: That’s cool. Reference for your own theme?
LcF: Yeah, and currently there are like 3-4 of them out there already
Swifty: Welcome to my world
wuching: I haven’t had the time to port this for blogspot, but I shall do it when possible.
Che-Cheh: Thank you very much!
9. boringest | March 10th, 2006 at 11:55 am

12. Kenny Lee | March 10th, 2006 at 1:15 pm

13. Bryan | March 10th, 2006 at 4:37 pm

Hi,
I would like to thank you for creating such a beautiful WP theme, it’s so great that I had to change the theme we were using on Cara’s Blog. Check it out..
18. Jacky | March 11th, 2006 at 3:06 am
Good theme. Will try it with my next blog. Thanks.
19. new themes added ... | March 11th, 2006 at 12:48 pm
[...] I’ve added a few more wordpress 2.0 themes, modified to work with wordpress MU, a few on recommendation and a few more that i stumbled upon. Most of them have screenshots, so do give it a try and inform me of any potential bugs. I particularly like AlexAllied (taken from http://www.alexallied.com/web-20/my-wordpress-theme-is-now-released) as it puts the Scalable Inman Flash Replacement (siFR) to good use. Beautiful fonts and a minimalistic design really makes the theme easy on the eyes. Best of all, its made by a Malaysian! Suprised? [...]
20. Malaysia Classifieds | March 11th, 2006 at 1:09 pm
I think it looks great! Very clean design
21. Alex | March 11th, 2006 at 9:50 pm

Jennifer: The link is working now.
Kenny: I can’t promise when, but it’ll not be soon as I’m kinda busy with my life :/

27. Azraai | March 12th, 2006 at 11:57 pm
nice theme…. but breaks in IE…
28. Jennifer Woodard Maderazo | March 13th, 2006 at 6:05 pm
Hi Alex,
Love your theme. Downloaded it and everything looked normal except for the fact that the posts are missing their titles, as well as the blog itself. i”m getting a “fatal error” message after each entry:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: the_nice_category() in /home/.evel/username/latin-know.com/wp-content/themes/alexified/post.php on line 15
any idea why?
thanks in advance
29. Christian | March 13th, 2006 at 6:50 pm
Hi Alex,
First of all, thanks for sharing your skin! Absolutely love it. However, I got a little problem.
How do I change the color of the font of the word categories and archive? I tried changing the h-categories.gif but it doesnt work.
Please help me as my site now kinda “broken”. Hehee
30. Alex | March 13th, 2006 at 7:12 pm
Jennifer: Thanks for your interest, but did you upload and activate the NiceCategories plugin?
31. GeminiGeek | March 13th, 2006 at 7:30 pm
Alex, why don’t you use the
function_exist? It doesn’t give any hassle to user to download the NiceCategories plugin.32. Alex | March 13th, 2006 at 7:35 pm
Christian: Those captions - Categories and Archive - are rendered by sIFR and not images. You can manually change the color of the words by editting its color values at the end of footer.php
GeminiGeek: I think I missed that little function there :/ Shall incorporate that in future updates.
33. Christian | March 13th, 2006 at 9:25 pm
Thanks Alex! It work! =)
Cheers,
Christian
34. Náufrago | March 14th, 2006 at 8:18 am

36. Derrick | March 14th, 2006 at 3:31 pm
Hey Alex: Great Theme! This is one of Wordpress Top 10!
I have a question: If I wantd to center the whole page, so it’s not anchored on the left; how would I do that? What elements in the style.css tag can I edit? Thanks!
37. Max Limpag | March 14th, 2006 at 4:19 pm
Alex,
Great theme. Just a question, how do you change the (more) link to Continue reading (title of the post). I know how to do it in regular themes but you use the loop differently and I haven’t been able to figure it out. Thanks
38. Alex | March 14th, 2006 at 11:31 pm
Naufrago: I understand that my theme has browser compatibility and localization issues. I shall have that rectified in the next edition of Alexified.
Max: You should be able to change that in ‘post.php’.

hi Alex,
why I can see the trackback URL?
42. Justin Wong | March 16th, 2006 at 3:15 am
On behalf of http://www.myfat4.com who used the alexified theme that you have created, I think it would be best if you include in your instructions that the URL of the first line of header.php should be edited instead of being ‘./wp-blog-header.php’
This is for the benefit for those who don’t know better. Excellent theme by the way.
43. Fat4 | March 16th, 2006 at 3:15 am
just dropping a line to say i love your theme and is currently trying it out on my domain. Thanks helps, alex
44. Jennifer Woodard Maderazo | March 16th, 2006 at 5:42 am
Alex, I fixed the problem and it’s working fine. It was an oversight on my part. Thanks for such a great theme!
45. Alex | March 16th, 2006 at 10:55 am
ikram_zidane: Very nice theme you have theer!
Justin: Sorry but I didn’t quite get your request, could you elaborate? Thanks for the comment btw.
Jennifer: No wories! Glad that you liked it.

47. vishal mehta | March 16th, 2006 at 2:48 pm
Dear Alex
There is one minor problem i am facing with this theme on firefox. if you can try while on firefox the post headings are not always clickable at once and become clickable only after clicking on it one time. While there is no problem with internet explorer. Do you have any idea about it? Do guide me if possible. Thanks
48. Alex | March 16th, 2006 at 6:29 pm
vishal mehta: That should be an issue with firefox in handling flash-rendered texts. That’s prety much the behaviour of sIFR texts :/
49. FKI | March 17th, 2006 at 8:05 am
Love the theme, and will stick with it. BUT….
I have a few (probably dopey) questions.
1. There are a few issues both in firefox and IE.
- in IE the pages do not render properly. The center content of the page sometimes stretches to fill the screen, sometimes not. Also the sidebar sometimes shows up, sometimes not, depending on the size of the window. FYI, I use 1600×1200 resolution if that helps.
- in FF, the footer “thank you” and your “wordpress theme: ALexfied” doesn not properly show up on the bottom of the page for some reason.. it shows up on the bottom of the FIRST post on the page.
2. silly question, but when you say “REMOVE THE QUOTE MASK TO ENABLE ADSENSE ADS DISPLAY” … please advise what that is.. do I have to remove “quotes” from something in the index.php file or is this something entirely different.
Sorry if I’m confused! But I will do everything to get this them working as good as on your site.
Thanks and look forward to getting it straightened out!!

Hi alex,
I’m using your theme and loving it! I just have one question: What plugin do you use to put technorati tags in your posts? I’m using Bunny’s Simple tags, but the tags are not appearing in my posts. How do I solve this or do I have to get another plugin?
It’s all what I need to get working to complete my customization of your theme for my blog.
Thanks and congratulations on a great theme. =)
51. MenDNA Webmaster | March 17th, 2006 at 11:23 am
Hi Alex,
Our team here would like to thank you for your Fab theme!
We had fun playing with it and customizing it to suit our site. Wish you luck if you’r submitting this theme for the theme competition!
Cheers,
The guys at MenDNA.com
52. Alex | March 17th, 2006 at 12:46 pm
FKI: I’ve been understood that the theme is not optimized across all browsers/resolution. I’ll have that rectified in future updates.
Now for your adsense question, removing the masks means removing everything from ‘< ?php /* ...' to the '?>‘ at the end, leaving only <div class=”adsense” align=”center”> and </div> as it’ll style your Adsense ads with a fading border. Then, place your adsense code in between those <div> tag. Done
jhay: I’m using thise one at http://www.broobles.com/scripts/simpletags/
MenDNA: Glad that you liked it, looks like you guys have it extensively modded
53. Joshua | March 17th, 2006 at 1:56 pm
Hi Alex,
Thanks for this template. I am using it now because its clean and clear! Great work!
54. FKI | March 17th, 2006 at 2:56 pm
Alex, appreciate your tips! This is fantastic. Ok, to clarify, and to add some other questions:
1. Thanks for the future version updates re: browser optimization. But your blog, and others (such as http://www.cara.com.my/daily) work just fine across browsers. Any tips or hacks that made the default theme work better?
2. Are you aware of any plugins that may be causing the theme to work improperly? I mean I have quite a few of them, and wondering (without methodically using process of elimination to deduce) if any are known culprits?
3. Does the version of WP make a difference? I’m using 2.02.
A couple other things:
4. The “search” tab/box is off in Firefox..
5. The “box” around the main content area is truncated and short in Firefox.
6. you never mentioned anything about the footer being misplaced in Firefox…
7. the window re-sizing issues in IE… ( I assume that’s part of the future update)
Oh, and one last thing:
8. is there a way to get the # of comments that are available in each post? it just says “add comment”..
Thanks for you patience with crazy users like me.. I look forward to your assistance! And thanks again! I’m sure when I get it working 100% I’ll send you some serious props.
FKI
55. FKI | March 17th, 2006 at 5:15 pm
Hey Alex, I have another question.. oh, and FYI, I tried a clean install of WP and your theme, and I’m not really having any issues anymore. I think the dozens of plugins and themes that I messed around with just corrupted the code somewhere.. so it looks good now.
My question is, can you please advise how you customized the logo in the upper left corner?
What image size/type was it?
And where did the code look like when you modified the index.php file. I’d like to do similar mods to my site.
Appreciate it! I wouldn’t be staying up this late if it wasn’t worth it!
Congrats again.
56. claus | March 18th, 2006 at 3:53 am
I like to theme very much and wanted to use it. Can you tell me how to disable the sifr for the post title? because I know it doesn’t support chinese characters which some of my post titles are in chinese language.
Thanks!
57. FKI | March 19th, 2006 at 3:27 am
I don’t think I’ve slept for three days
I too, am dying to get a custom logo on my page, and I still cannot crack the code.
Tell me if I’m getting close.
I see you have put a 1 pixel dot.gif file up there, but your logo.gif file is actually a backgound image, which is nice because it doesn’t mess up in IE, the way KOREKK’s logo does.
Where did you put the logo.gif background image? In the header file or the index file?
How did you disable the siFR for the page title?
I’m rough around the edges and would love a little guidance!
58. FKI | March 19th, 2006 at 4:27 am
I’m actually getting closer to figuring it out.
- I removed the header references from the style.css
- I added the logo code
- I removed header references from the header.php file
But now the footer is pulled to the top… and the page is crunched near the top as well..
What did I do wrong? Or forget to do?
Sorry!
59. FKI | March 19th, 2006 at 4:32 am
PS, the footer works fine in IE, but not firefox..
60. FKI | March 19th, 2006 at 8:14 am
I’ve noticed another bug, fyi..
When you click on any of the categories, only SOME of them convert sucessfully into sIFR headings, and others show up blank.
Is there any way to get them all to work?
I’ve noticed it in a few sites that use your theme.
Do you have to create the categories before implementing the theme? Should I switch the theme on then off?
Thanks!
61. AllOpenMinds.com | March 19th, 2006 at 10:31 am
Alexified is a magnificent WordPress theme! Thanks for creating it. I’m using it on http://allopenminds.com
Just one question: The profile links on my site aren’t working. Any suggestions?
Thanks again!
62. Alex | March 19th, 2006 at 12:03 pm
FKI: Comment #55. The header is rendered by sIFR in between the <div id=”header”> and </div> tags. You could customize that part in header.php
claus: Remove the Javascript codes at the bottom of the footer.php. That should be able to do it.
63. Azfar | March 19th, 2006 at 2:15 pm

68. lilian | March 20th, 2006 at 10:07 pm
Alex, got one question. Someone asked before, I think. My comment shows ‘Add comment’ eventhough there are comments. How do I change that, please?
69. FKI | March 23rd, 2006 at 5:28 pm
Here’s a question for you all. What do I have to do to enable the searchbox to be able to search the comments at the same time as well?
Thanks again for the best WP2.0 theme out there!
70. Nudecybot | March 24th, 2006 at 3:46 am

73. FKI | March 27th, 2006 at 3:14 pm
Hi guys, sorry about the number of comments, but I’m having issues getting this theme working in Internet Explorer!!
I made the width of the center column 40px wider, and the rightsidebar 40px smaller..
but now my site doesn’t load right on IE.
Can someone look at my style.css file and help me figure out what I did wrong?

74. FKI | March 28th, 2006 at 1:53 am
I guess no one is reading this anymore
I noticed a lot of issues with IE.
- My right sidebar gets pushed to the bottom.
- also the header-desc text is much bigger in IE compared to Firefox…
What settings do I need to tweak? I’ve been experimenting with the style.css so much, but I have not been able to get it right!!!
Thanks
75. jhay | March 31st, 2006 at 9:28 pm
Hi Alex!
I just implemented AJAX commenting on my blog’s theme, which of course was designed by you, everything works fine.
Except that whenever a new comment is posted, it appears indented to the right which breaks the graphics on the comment’s author bar and the text input field no longer works.
You could visit by blog and post a comment to see what I mean.
What must I do to solve this?
Thanks!

82. Sammy | April 16th, 2006 at 11:55 am
1st, awesome theme Alex! Thanks!
Nudecybot: Great idea about a wiki. I’m not very code or WordPress savvy(just installed it), so a wiki for Alex’s theme would be a great fit. I just e-mailed him asking if he has anything like that. Great idea. Especially if Alex is to busy to do this all himself.
I wasn’t thinking… I should have posted my questions here:
1. How do I change the title for the “Recommended” and “Design Resources” at the bottom?
2. Can those links be relocated to a sidebar?
Sorry for the lack of knowledge.
83. Advertising Dirt | April 17th, 2006 at 5:58 am
Alex, amazing theme. I just hope it works for IE…Otherwise it’s back to the drawing board.
84. Furkan | April 20th, 2006 at 7:01 pm
It’s a perfect theme but it has some character problems. Like, I,Ğ,Ü,Ş at the big, orange titles… sIFR
85. Paul Reid | April 21st, 2006 at 4:25 pm
Hi Alex. Love the theme. I am trying to get ba groupblog going using your theme. Is there anyway to add a link in a post from the authors name in the same way that K2 does?
Thanks,
Paul
86. spiderglow | April 22nd, 2006 at 4:46 am
Great theme. Im doing a modification and translation on this theme to work it on spanish.
Thanks for your effort to get a great and clean theme.
87. Pawel | April 23rd, 2006 at 8:46 pm
Hi Alex! I’m next person who have problems with some strange (local) characters (ęąśżćąłó) in title of posts… Meybe you can do somethink with this prob in next reales of your theme? Or meybe you could give us advice how to repair / change that?
88. Alex | April 24th, 2006 at 12:26 am
First of all, sorry for the lack of updates/replies as I’m currently busy with my own business. I’m really honored to have received such a great response from the wordpress community, you guys’ feedbacks are very much appreciated.
Kelvin Wong: There are no plans for the K2 port. Perhaps someone else could do it.
Sammy: You could change the titles in wp-content/themes/index.php
Yes, they can be relocated to the sidebar. Just open up wp-content/themes/sidebar.php and copy the codes from index.php into it.
spiderglow: Thanks a million for the localization effort!
Furkan, Pawel: Get the sIFR from http://www.mikeindustries.com/sifr/ and generate an sIFR flash file from fonts that contains those characters, e.g. Arial. Upload and overwrite the flash file and you’re done
89. Pawel | April 24th, 2006 at 3:31 am
Hmm, I have exported, fonts are diffrent, but there are no any my local fonts…
Meybe you can generate it and send me to: cayene [at] gmail [dot] com ?
90. Paul Reid | April 26th, 2006 at 4:41 pm
Maybe someone on this comment list can help. I am trying to work out how to make a link from the post Authors name to a dynamic page that lists all of that users posts. Is there a way to do this in Alexified?
http://www.digitalchalkie.com/
91. Atul | April 28th, 2006 at 11:19 pm
Hello there nice skins
but iam getting lots of errors
well read about enabling the plugins
but how am i supposed to do this
there is no themes options in the
themes menu of wordpress
is it supposed to be there
or is there any other way
would really like to solve this out
92. Al | May 6th, 2006 at 7:42 am
Beautiful design, but no use to think the whole world will gonna use Firefox. IE7 will ben the next common browser and your theme simply doesn’t work in IE7. Look, I am not pro MS and their IE browser, but 90 percent of my visitors simply use that one. Your theme even doesn’t work well in Opera. Pity, since Alexified is a very tastefull design.
93. MikeD | May 8th, 2006 at 4:55 am
Hi,
nice looking theme! However in IE there seems to be two bugs, the header and the right side column.
Has anybody fixed these problems?
thanks
Mike
94. Jeff | May 14th, 2006 at 2:28 pm
Hi, noticed your theme from someone elses blog. I downloaded it and installed it on Jeffhendricksondesign.com but had a problem with it as it said there was an error in the post.php file. I couldn’t figure out what the problem was. Also, I like the way the post title fonts look rendered via that flash type renderer but I think that might be bad for SEO purposes as well as for people using the new version of IE. Also, I use firefox mainly and it looks like some people here are having problems in IE which is still what most people use. Anyway, nice job. I like how clean it looks. I’ll have to check back for version 3 when all the bugs are worked out.

Is there a way to center this entire site?
99. hipocratico | May 25th, 2006 at 9:14 am
I´m a newbie. My blog is in spanish and I´m having the character problems too.
Sorry but I don´t quite understand how to change the fonts.
I downloaded ths sIFR you told before, but I´m stuck.
Please, can you help me? This is the only thing that is keeping me from using your theme. Thanks

I still can’t figure out to to center this.
101. Techgimo | May 27th, 2006 at 2:35 pm
Dear,
i used your theme for almost 2 month or so. it was really nice theme except some of the browser related problems while wrapping adsense in post content. Also the flash component was too much for GoogleBot i think and becos of that most of my pages were only partially indexed and ultimately removed from index. After changing the theme i noticed drastic change in GoogleBot indexing and also with adsense as i could wrap my ads in post content. My CTR goes from 2 to 5-6 in just one day.
I am not web designer or seo or problogger but with my experience i can say may be the flash files are good for look and design but it is definately not good for search engines, bandwith and speed of your website.
Do you have any suggestions for these as its difficult to remove these from your theme and i would definately like to use your theme again as i still like it more than what i am using right now.
Thanks

Hi guys, it’s so difficult to publish the text.fla and in this way we can put the following code:
System.useCodepage = true;
and in this way solve the problem of the special characters?
Thanks

Hi. You can see some little changes to your theme here, particular one related with the sIFR text. As I’ve seen in some comments here, people who use european word had a few problems - as me - and I tried to fix the problem without changing to much your theme. And thanks, it’s great.

Hey Alex, I know you “Retired” from managing the theme, but since you allow people to still download it, there is a small change I would like to see made. Because of some plugins the <?php require(’./wp-blog-header.php’); ?> reference is not valid since some live outside of the theme directory…
please change it to
<?php require(ABSPATH.’/wp-blog-header.php’); ?>
ABSPATH is defined in /wp-config.php and should work for all plugins (using wordpress 2.0.3)

It’s a great theme, but I found just one problem: we cannot use special characters from another language, like portuguese, in the titles, ’cause it’s not working.

I really like this theme
And from me this is most probably the best comment ever lol. I look at hundereds of website designs a day and dislike a vast majority of them. I like maybe 2% of the hundereds of website designs I make myself so for me to choose this for my website is like getting an oscer or somthing :p
I really, really like this theme - it works with what I have had in mind for my website and it looks easily customisable
Im going to add support for a few more plugins as well as adding some graphics and such… i really do like this theme

Hello. I am Japanese named KOO.
It considerably liked and let me immediately use it, please.
There was a part of embarrassed phenomenon, and however, it was not ameliorable or it was thought that be able to get advice and made it contribute.
When the influence of the font of Flash or Japanese is used though the title of the blog title and the article, it is not displayed.
It designs, it includes, it manages to exist in the nature, and it wants to make it correspond and to use it though it is made to use cutting Flash without a current method.
Could you advise if there are some methods?
These sentences have been converted into Japanese → English with the translation software. Please pardon it though it is thought that there is a part to which it doesn’t spread easily in sentences accurately.

One Request: How can I turn the width of the blog to a “fluid” width - so that users using 800×600 resolution will be able to see the blog without scrolling left to right.
Would highly appreciate your solution - which is the only thing missing in this absolutely beautiful design. A plus !!!!

This is a really nice clean blog. Works with my home decorating web site. One question: How do you log on? Maybe I’m missing something, but there is no log-on link or button. How do you get to the admin panel from this page? Is there a way to get viewers to log-on to post?
139. oz | August 29th, 2006 at 5:15 am
Not sure if you read your comments section, but if you do, would highly appreciate if you can help wipe a bug out of the template. When “page not found” shows up or if I click on any tags page the page that shows up does not have the left sidebar.
Is there anyway you can help out?
