Air Asia presented its 200,000+ Facebook fans with their belated April Fool’s joke.
Touted by the fans as the largest prank of all time, and should be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records for the most people fooled on an April Fool’s Day. Many were let down by the system ‘glitch’ that Air Asia’s Facebook admins claimed had delayed the ‘Exclusive Fares’ getting published on their booking system.

As fans were ranting and throwing endless comments at the error that was spoiling the usual mood of excitement while counting down to a classic Air Asia Promo, they know the exciting prime time is ticking away and the promo is nothing more than just a April Fool’s joke.

Many were calling it a day and going to bed with disappointment. Especially the Aussies who were 2 hours ahead of us, meaning they’re waiting for this promo to start at 2 a.m. in the morning. Worst of all, the Promo did not even feature any Australian destinations.

For those who managed to get a fairly cheap ticket off this promo, they’re frustrated with the Payment for not functioning. Can’t pay = No cheap tickets = Prank.

Press the Panic Button! “We will higligth this to the system team to check tomorrow.” At 2am in the morning, it is already tomorrow @ 2nd April 2010, or did you mean 3rd of April 2010? Alright, obviously the system team is snoring all the way to Good Friday, while the foolish Facebook fans wait for nothing? I thought the web sales department should be on standby mode 24-hours a day as it involves International customers from different time zones and any matter should be resolved immediately, not tomorrow’s tomorrow.
Customers want their ticket be bought and done with as soon as possible, for tomorrow the fares will be higher, or are you trying to cash in on that?

Act like nothing happened – Alright folks, that’s the end of the show, go back and have a good Friday!
Air Asia, if you’re ready to make all your 200,000 fans wait for some promo, make sure you’ve done your homework first. Damage has been done and its time to go to bed. This is undoubtedly the best April Fool’s joke pulled off this year. At such a magnitude, surely it deserve a record in the Guinness Book.
Air Asia – Now Everyone has been FOOLED!

well.. that’s what they really mean by the “lowest cost” i guess.. =/

That’s why I do not fly Air Asia as far as possible. Don’t like the way they always seem to try and con people. Said RM9 to Kuching, logged in – RM29.00!!! Just give us the fares…and we can decide who to fly with after comparing. No need for all that… Don;t feel nice – this feeling of having been cheated!

Contrary to that, i always get the cheapest fare they offered. It’s not cheating, it’s their marketing strategy, the same goes to MAS for their low fare campaign.
KeeMan, it’s not exactly cheating, more to a April Fool’s prank deal or something. Perhaps I exaggerated the matter a bit, but if you were at the website waiting for deals to happen, then you should know why the fans reacted like that

All that AA had to do was announce a summary of the selected routes that would be on sale (and of course make sure that the PAY button worked).
I had to get up at 3am in Australia to see that there were NO flights from Australia on sale.

When they say RM9.90 for a trip down to KotaKinabalu, I was excited but when i try to book the price, it wasnt there…i got RM49.90. Honestly, the rates are still cheap. All of us are cheap!! bodo…not everything is free…

As a respect of privacy, don’t you think you should censor the pictures and the nickname?
Hey, thanks for the reminder. It’s been all mosaic-ed!

KeeMan, i dont mind if the promotion is not so cheap as we want but what they did wrong…. they didn’t state which states are on promotions!!! so people won’t wasting their time over nothing..
Well, yeah, I felt sorry especially for the Australians who were 2-3 hours ahead of us.

Was just about to say that. Yeah, it’s against FB privacy rule too.

it seems that the boss stand out and confirmed it’s not a prank
Good to get the all clear from the boss himself! But still, no Australian destinations for Aussies.

Give them a break. They had some issues with their website, which happens to companies but at bad timing. They always have their servers crashed by users during promos. Even the fastest websites crash too when so many users log on to it and try to purchase tickets from it.

AA, if you only have 15 free seats available, dont waste OUR PRECIOUS TIME!!!!
