Fucked up Translation in China

This is a 18sx-rated post. Parental guidance is required.

Not long ago, Kenny Sia did a post on Shanghai’s daily english use. Here, I would like to do a follow-up to his post by adding these. Pictures are taken in an anonymous China supermarket.

Fuck goods
Those goods are pretty fucked up.

Fuck the certain price of goods
The price is so expensive nowadays that they’ve to Fuck the certain price of goods! It’s clear that the Chinese doesn’t like certain price of goods. What did they do? Yeah, fuck them!

Now that’s what I call, fucked up translation. I think they’re better off sticking with Mandarin than having shitty translations from a blind translation software. They should have at least get someone to proof-read their computer-generated translation, anyone with a minimal english-command will know what “fuck” means.

Wuching: They should at least seek professional advice on this matter. Don’t they turn “Drying Zone” into “you know what” zone. That’s gonna cause massive chaos there!

JoeC: It’s suppose to mean “Dry” goods. Dry = Gan in Chinese. “Gan” on the other hand, means “fuck” too.

mahagurusia: I think that’s a counterfeit ‘Made in China’ product :P

Che-Cheh: So you’re Amy huh? Did you get that favicon to work?

Hey Alex! Thanks for your rapid feedback. I like to explore the possibilities outside of blogspot. Wanna check out what it takes, my understanding was that I’ll need to pay for webhosting as well as domain name fee.

I started blogging as a pet project, then it turn into a side hobby. To go independent, I’ll have to see if I can take it to the next level. I’m still on the learning curve but going wordpress-ish is the next step. Cheers!

When you are ready to go, drop me a line, I’ll help out :)
