The Star reporter who failed Geography

May

Dear Stephen Then,
Thank you for your report on the Kuala Baram haze issue. But Kuala Baram is part of Miri City, Sarawak, not Sabah.
Please kindly amend your geography knowledge. Thank you.
Yours truly,
Alex Allied.

It is as if the title/heading not written by him haha! Read the 1st para, the news correctly reported Kuala Baram ‘along the Sarawak-Brunei’ border.
ROTFLMAO!
It’s not the first time, especially West Malaysians got it wrong for places in Sabah and Sarawak. What a shame!
Next time if you see more of those mistakes, please print screen and make a record of it. We’ll see how many mistake they’ll make over the years.

my oh my ..
I think i’ve seen mistakes like this a few times. the last time was when bongkersz mms me the reporter put up mumbai, thailand. so, i dun really know which one is worst lah but then – come on la wei, national newspaper! Stupid mistake like this?
The Kuala Baram case is still acceptable, but Mumbai in Thailand?
I only start to wonder what kind of qualifications does The Star reporters posses.

My goodness.. Baram in SABAH?
Aiyoh. They posted this article in a rush, i guess.
perhaps they are rushing, but which newspaper is not rushing o?

What rush? Most West Malaysians can’t tell the difference between Sabah and Sarawak! Their knowledge of the two states is almost NIL!!! But then again, many of us here do not know much about the other states over on the other side…! Try asking one A1 student for PMR Geography where Kuantan or Kangar is, for instance…
Sir,
If the future is in the hands of technology, one would only type a few words in their mobile and get the answer.
But then again, education is still important, but it’s not necessary one should memorize everything in the book.
But as a national newspaper, that mistake is unacceptable.
That’s the problem with many people these days – lack of initiative, not pro-active. I notice that many cannot even carry out a simple calculation in the absence of a calculator.
Technology should help, not replaced our cognitive abilities. But, it blunts our many basic skills like memorising, doing simple and fast calculations, etc. That’s what happened when we really to much on technology.
oopss.. grammar mistake. shuckssss~
That’s really bad then, wonder how he got A1 for his Geography.

yea, a lot of ppl from peninsula can’t differentiate sarawak and sabah.
So very true, some of them thinks that KK is in Sarawak, and Miri is in Sabah, and Sabah is part of Brunei.
You know, they’re still stuck in the Zaman Kesultanan Brunei (The Sultanate of Brunei era).

Some West Malaysians even thought that Sabah and Sarawak are not within Malaysia.
I hope they’re not in Malaysia, we’ll be super rich by then
